Suggest + V-ing (Mai suggested taking a taxi) hoặc suggest + that-clause (Minh suggested that we should leave early; Minh suggested that we leave early). Không nói suggested me to take hay suggested to take.
Admit và deny đi với gì?
Cả hai đều đi với V-ing hoặc that-clause: Tom admitted breaking the window = Tom admitted that he had broken the window. Nam denied taking the money = Nam denied that he had taken the money.
Apologise for, accuse someone of, blame someone for, insist on. Sau giới từ dùng V-ing hoặc danh từ: apologised for being late, accused him of lying, blamed the weather for the delay, insisted on paying.
Say và tell khác nhau thế nào?
Say không có tân ngữ chỉ người đứng ngay sau (She said that she was busy; She said to me that she was busy). Tell cần tân ngữ chỉ người (She told me that she was busy).
Đặt not trước to hoặc trước V-ing: She promised not to tell anyone. Linh suggested not going out. Với tân ngữ: The doctor advised me not to drink coffee.
Với cấu trúc that-clause, khi động từ tường thuật ở quá khứ thì thường lùi thì: He promised that he would send the photos.
Promise + to + V1 (Tom promised to call me) hoặc promise + that-clause (Tom promised that he would call me). Phủ định: promised not to tell. Khi có tân ngữ, thường dùng that-clause: He promised me that he would come.
Nói explained the rules to me, mentioned the problem to her, không nói explained me hay mentioned her the problem. Muốn dùng that-clause thì nói explained to me that... hoặc told me that...
Recommend khác suggest thế nào?
Cả hai đều đi với V-ing và that-clause (recommended visiting; recommended that we arrive early). Recommend còn đi được với tân ngữ + to-V (I recommend you to read it), còn suggest thì không đi với tân ngữ + to-V (không nói suggested you to read it).
